The Vikings ran in the Moorpark Invitational at Arroyo Vista Community Park this past weekend with the men's team placing fifth and the women's team taking sixth place. The front runners for the Vikings looked impressive in this early-season showcase. Freshman Joshua Jung, newcomer out of San Pedro High School, led the Vikings with an 11th-place overall finish with a time of 21:48.6. Jung was followed by sophomore standout Riki Moscoso who finished 12th with a time of 21:54.9, followed by sophomore Leonardo Acevedo (23:54.1), freshman Nicholas Nance (25:17.7), freshman Jesus Romero (25:32.9), sophomore Jaylen Chan (25:39.6).
On the women's side, returning sophomores led the pack as sophomore Katlyn Moratoya ran a 22:36.1 to take 22nd overall followed by sophomore Lorena Galaviz (22:46.0) 25th overall, sophomore Frida Hernandez (24:25.7), sophomore Melanie Moreno (27:37.3) and sophomore Morgan Venable (29:49.9).

The Men and Women Viking teams will compete next at the SoCal Regional Preview located at El Dorado Regional Park in Long Beach next Saturday, September 15th. Race time is 10:00 for the women and 10:45 for the men.
