The Long Beach City College softball team is proud to announce it has transferred all three of its sophomores from its 2012 squad to four-year universities to continue their academic and athletic careers.

Long Beach City College split a pair of non-conference games against San Diego County opponents, picking up a 7-3 win over San Diego Mesa College while falling to Palomar College 4-0 to close out the 2012 regular-season schedule on Wednesday at home. Danielle Hannan (pictured) had a RBI double and scored a run in the win over Mesa.

Long Beach City College used a 10-run, second-inning to cruise to a 19-2 South Coast Conference win over visiting Pasadena City College in both teams’ conference finale on Tuesday. Sophomore Melisa Sponholz (pictured) went 1 for 1 with a double and 3 RBI.

Three Long Beach City College errors led to three unearned runs as LBCC suffered a 4-1 South Coast Conference loss to visiting No. 8 state-ranked Cerritos College on Tuesday. Freshman Shanise Compton smashed a solo homerun for the Vikings' lone run.
