Softball: Vikings close regular-season with 2-1 loss at Palomar

Long Beach City College closed out the regular-season schedule on Wednesday with a 2-1 loss at Palomar College. With the loss, the Vikings finished in third place in the South Coast Conference standings at 14-7 and 24-15 overall.

In a hard fought loss, freshmen Candice Shadwell (19-14) gave up just two runs (one unearned). While facing 27 batters, she allowed four hits with one strike out and walked four. Her lone blemish in the complete-game effort was a fourth-inning solo homerun to Paige Falconieri that gave the Comets a 2-1 lead.

Freshman Jezeree Misaalefua (pictured) scored the only run that Long Beach was able to muster up in the top of the first inning. The Vikings had just four hits and got singles from Alyssa Gutierrez, Candice Shadwell, Melissa Yepez, and Reanna Guzman.
