Sophomore Natalie Ayala (Torrance HS) tossed a three-hit shutout to help lead the Long Beach City College softball team to a 1-0 South Coast Conference win over visiting El Camino College on Tuesday at LBCC.

The Vikings scored their lone run in the bottom of the first inning. Freshman Rayleen Pallan (California HS) hit a lead-off single, stole second base, and advanced to third on a ground out by sophomore Melissa Yepez (Paramount HS). Pallan then came in to score on another ground out by freshman Mary Gonzales (Banning HS) for the eventual game-winner.

Ayala struck out seven and walked one for the win. LBCC managed just the lone hit by Pallan off El Camino (9-8, 3-3 SCC) starting pitcher Danielle Bonsky as she went the distance in the loss.

Long Beach (7-7, 4-2 SCC) plays the second of three consecutive conference games tomorrow at Mt. San Antonio College at 3 pm. LBCC then returns home on Thursday (Mar 6) to host East Los Angeles College at 3.
