Long Beach City College couldn't hold a 5-3, fourth-inning lead and ultimately fell by a final score of 11-5 in a South Coast Conference game at El Camino College on Thursday. The loss dropped Long Beach to 6-7 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

Trailing 2-1 after the first inning, the Vikings rallied for a pair of runs in the third and fourth innings to take a two-run lead. But El Camino put up three runs in the fourth to go ahead and added five more runs in the fifth to put the game out of reach.

Sophomore Doreen Corella (San Pedro HS) went 3 for 4 with a RBI to lead LBCC at the plate. Freshman Daisy Velasquez (Bellflower HS) had a pair of hits and scored twice while freshman Tristin Zazueta (Paramount HS) drove in two runs.

Sophomore Brooke Loard (Millikan HS) took the loss in the circle for LBCC to fall to 2-4 overall. She allowed six runs (four earned) and seven hits over 3 1/3 innings. Freshman Anissa Hamilton (Downey HS) closed out the game and allowed five runs (two earned) and three hits over the final 2 2/3 innings.

Long Beach returns to action on Friday (Feb. 26) at 4 p.m. when the Vikings travel to Citrus College for a non-conference game.
