The Long Beach City College softball team traveled to Pasadena, CA on Wednesday afternoon to face off against the Pasadena City College Lancers after being rained out the day before. Despite freshman starting pitcher Alissa Cienfuegos (Carson, CA) launching a seventh inning homerun to trim the deficit to one run, the Vikings faltered in a 2-1 edge.

Cienfuegos was the story for the Vikings both in the circle and at the dish as she pitched five innings and had a decent outing. She threw up four zeros on the scoreboard, but a two-spot by the Lancers in the bottom of the fifth inning was the thorn in her outing. Despite the crooked frame, she allowed just four hits and struck out one batter.

Cienfuegos was solid at the plate by going 2-for-3 with a solo homerun, while freshman right fielder Alijah Vega (Bellflower, CA), freshman shortstop Alvia Soulliere (Paramount, CA), and sophomore third baseman Denise Flores (Carson, CA) each recorded a base knock.

Freshman reliever Vanessa Montanez (Lakewood, CA) pitched a scoreless bottom of the sixth inning as well.

The Vikings (6-5) return home Thursday, February 23rd to face off against Rio Hondo at 2 p.m.
