Softball Wins at Home Against Rio Hondo

The Long Beach City College softball team defeated the Rio Hondo College Roadrunners on Thursday afternoon 11-2.

Pitcher Emilee Hoppe (1-0) was unstoppable on the mound with serving up only two runs, on four hits in five innings of impressive work.

The Vikings were first on the board with two doubles from sophomore outfielder Lauren Blevins and freshman utility Raven Agapay. Both Vikings were the first to score and gain the 2-0 lead.

The Roadrunners tied the game in the third inning, but the Vikings came back with a bang and scored nine runs in the bottom of the fourth. Agapay added a home run to the game to continue the offensive momentum.

Alijah Vega and Jennifer Tobar each two RBI to finish the game, while Alissa Cienfuegos had one run on three hits and one RBI.

The Vikings will play again tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 9 against Cypress College at 2 p.m.
