The Long Beach City College softball team won their second-straight game on Thursday evening against the Chaffey College Panthers 7-0.

Sophomore pitcher Alissa Cienfuegos (4-4) was unstoppable on the mound with no runs on seven hits, while striking out nine. In the second inning, Cienfuegos found herself surrounded with bases loaded by the Panthers with zero outs, and then she struck out the next three-straight batters to close the inning.

Cienfuegos then proved herself as a defensive threat again in the fifth inning in the same situation with bases juiced and zero outs. She assisted in the double play with sophomore catcher Samantha Ontiveros and freshman first baseman Ashley Pozo to tap out the third base runner and the batter at first, and then stuck out the next Panther batter for the third out.

The Vikings scored all five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Cienfuegos and short stop freshman Raven Agapay both got on base with a walk and then were moved over to second and third by a sacrifice from freshman center fielder Emilee Hoppe.

Freshman outfielder Sabrina Rodriguez pinch ran for Cienfuegos and was batted in by freshman infielder Elena Vizcarra for the first run. First baseman Julia Juarez was next up for the RBI single to bring in Agapay. Freshman third baseman Yliana Bernal was next up with a 2RBI single and then Ontiveros was the last Viking to score off of a fielder's choice from Alijah Vega.

The Vikings will play again at Mount San Antonio College on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 3 p.m.
