Softball Earns Six All-Conference Selections

The South Coast Conference (SCC) recently announced the 2019 Softball All-Conference South Division Team. Six Long Beach City College softball student-athletes earned SCC-South All Conference accolades at the conclusion of the regular season. Freshman shortstop Jade Wittman, freshman center fielder Yazmin Zendejas, and freshman catcher Jocelyn Cebedo all earned First-Team All-Conference recognition, while freshman left fielder Maria Aguilar and freshman third baseman Ileana Rivera brought in Second-Team All-Conference honors. Lastly, freshman second baseman Alora Murray was named to the honorable mention list.

Wittman earned First-Team honors this softball season for her success on the plate and in the field. She sat on the top of the conference leaderboard for the highest batting average of .479, the most doubles (10) and the most hits (33) in conference play. Wittman was also ranked third in the conference for her on base percentage with a score of .514.

Zendejas earned First-Team accolades this season with her performance as center fielder and at the dish. Zendejas was the Vikings top of the line hitter and totaled 23 hits during conference. She had a batting average of .348 and had a total of 20 runs. Zendejas also had the most triples (4) in the conference.

Cebedo was also recognized with First-Team honors for her outstanding fielding percentage of .923. During conference play, she ranked third with 70 at-bats and six assists.

Aguilar earned Second-Team honors for her fierce work in left field. Aguilar had a fielding percentage of .930 and a batting average of .403.

Rivera earned Second-Team recognition with her contribution as the starting third baseman for the Vikings. She ranked 10th with 24 hits and fourth in the conference with 20 RBIs.

Murray finalized the accolades for the Vikings with being named to the honorable mention list with her work on second base. Murray held a fielding percentage of .957 and was ranked 9th in assists with 20 during conference action.
