Softball Suffers Tough Loss to Santiago Canyon
The No. 15 Long Beach City College softball team fell to the Santiago Canyon College Hawks 6-3 on Friday afternoon at Mayfair Park.
The No. 15 Long Beach City College softball team fell to the Santiago Canyon College Hawks 6-3 on Friday afternoon at Mayfair Park. With the loss, the Vikings fall to 2-5 overall.
Freshman first baseman Mya Logan was first on the board with a single to shortstop to score in sophomore centerfielder Yazmin Zendejas. Then in the bottom of the second, freshman right fielder Deandra Vazquez advanced to home on a wild pitch to put the Vikings on top 2-0.
In the third inning, sophomore third baseman Ileana Rivera blasted a homerun to the left field to extend the Vikings lead 3-0.
The Hawks bounced back in the top of the fourth with three runs and again in the fifth inning with three more runs to take the lead and the 6-3 win away from the Vikings.
The Long Beach City College softball team will be back on Saturday, Feb. 15 with a double header against Chaffey College at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
