Softball's Joette Vega Earns Academic All-State Honors
It was recently announced that Long Beach City College sophomore softball pitcher Joette Vega earned 2020 Academic All-State honors.
It was recently announced that Long Beach City College sophomore softball pitcher Joette Vega earned 2020 Academic All-State honors. Vega earned a 4.0 GPA off the field, while holding a 4.13 ERA and a .276 batting average on the field in the short Spring season of this year.
Vega has held a 4.0 GPA since arriving at Long Beach City College last year. In the 2019 season with the Vikings, she had a 9-4 record in the circle with a 3.07 ERA and had 49 total strikeouts.
"Joey's work ethic is undeniably one of the best I've ever witnessed," said Head Coach Megan Martinez. "She strives greatness in all that she does. She's a good teammate, coachable and an outstanding student-athlete. We are so proud to call her our own!"
Vega is a biochemistry major and has received three offers so far to continue her athletic and academic career at the next level.
