No. 4 Softball Takes Down Pasadena on Sophomore Day

The No. 4 Long Beach City College softball team defeated the Pasadena City College Lancers on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Vikings advance their record to 24-9 overall and are currently in second place in the South Coast Conference with a 16-3 record.

The Lancers were first on the board with two runs in the third inning, but the Vikings brought the bats in the bottom of the fourth inning to take away the lead from Pasadena. Freshman third baseman Alejandra Mota started the rally with a double to score in freshman second baseman Jaiden Lopez and then sophomore center fielder Alia Marquez had an RBI single to score in Mota. Sophomore right fielder Kirstin Sanchez finished out the rally with a double to score in Marquez and then stole home to bring the Vikings up to four runs.

In the bottom of the fifth, Marquez smashed another RBI single to extend the Vikings' lead to 7-2. The Lancers had one more run in them in the top of the seventh, but the Vikings walked away with the 7-3 conference win.

The softball team will be back on the field on Thursday, April 20th at Mt. San Antonio College at 5 p.m.
