Long Beach City College Softball Shuts Out Compton College 9-0

 The Long Beach City College softball squad dominated the Compton College Tartars with a resounding 9-0 victory on Tuesday afternoon, putting an end to the Tartars' 10-game winning streak. With this triumph, the Vikings boast a solid 10-4 overall record, remaining untarnished in the South Coast Conference with a flawless 3-0 standing.

The Vikings wasted no time in making their mark, launching their offensive onslaught right from the get-go. Anaya Togia kicked off the action in the first inning with a clutch RBI double, followed by Alynna Gonzalez's RBI single. Jordyn Villanueva then capitalized on a fielder's choice, and Gonzalez brought in another run, catapulting the Vikings to an early 4-0 lead.

Undeterred, the Vikings kept their momentum roaring into the second inning. Robin Garcia blasted a 2 RBI triple, while Togia contributed with a sac fly, extending the Vikings' lead to a commanding 7-0 over the Tartars.

The Vikings didn't ease off the gas, finishing off their opponents decisively in the fourth inning. Togia smashed a homer, and Villanueva walked in a run, sealing the deal with a comprehensive 9-0 conference triumph.

Pitcher Bayleigh Fry (6-2) delivered an outstanding performance, dominating the circle and allowing the Tartars a mere two hits while striking out an impressive nine batters in five innings of play.

Next up for the Vikings is a showdown against San Bernardino Valley on Thursday, February 29th, slated for 1 p.m.
