Vikings Softball Dominates El Camino: Securing Another Conference Victory

The No.4/7 Vikings squad clinched another conference victory, outplaying El Camino with a 5-3 victory on Friday afternoon. With this win, the Vikings maintain their dominating stance with a flawless 7-0 record in the South Coast Conference, boasting an impressive overall standing of 17-4.

Bayleigh Fry, holding a commendable 10-2 record, showcased her pitching expertise by clinching the win on the hill. Over nine intense innings, she stifled the opposition, allowing just three runs while securing two strikeouts.

Robin Garcia kicked off the action with a sacrifice fly, driving in Xiomei Geluz. This momentum was further fueled as Anaya Togia smashed a homer to left field, swiftly followed by Alejandra Mota's RBI triple and Breanna Lucero's clutch RBI single, propelling the Vikings to a commanding 4-0 lead in the opening inning.

Though the Warriors managed to claw back with three runs of their own in the fifth inning, inching closer to the Vikings. In a pivotal moment in the bottom of the sixth inning, Garcia delivered yet again, smashing an RBI single to bring home Natalie Wilson, securing the decisive 5-3 victory over El Camino.

"I knew coming in today's game that it was going to be a dog-fight between both teams," said Togia. "I knew that if my team and I kept it simple and stayed with the plan, that we would end up on top, which we did!"

The Vikings will be back on the field on Monday, March 18 at Mt.SAC to finish the suspended rainout game from March. 7.
