The No. 7 Long Beach City College softball team delivered a commanding performance against Pasadena City College, securing a dominant 17-0 victory in just five innings on Tuesday afternoon. With the win, the Vikings improve to 12-1 in South Coast Conference play and 20-2 overall.
Long Beach wasted no time setting the tone, taking a 2-0 lead in the first inning after Mikaela Pacheco ripped a double to drive in two runs. The Vikings exploded in the second, putting up seven runs behind clutch hits from Alesa Gonzalez, Michelle Cervantes, and Pacheco, extending the lead to 9-0.
The team's and my confidence is truly growing to its greatest potential," said Pacheco. I'm truly grateful that I am able to continue to do my part and to help this team succeed."
The offensive attack continued in the third, with Long Beach capitalizing on Pasadena's defensive errors. Anaya Togia's two-run single and contributions from Kira Velasco, Madison Ramon, and Julissa Montes pushed the lead to 17-0, sealing the mercy-rule victory.
"Our team is really 1-22 deep, we have each other's back from all the players to the coaches," said Cervantes. "I truly believe we are unstoppable."
