The No. 7 Long Beach City College softball team fell to No. 5 El Camino College, 3-0, on Friday afternoon. With the loss, the Vikings drop to 21-3 overall and 14-2 in South Coast Conference play.
El Camino struck early with a home run to left field in the first inning to put the Warriors up 1-0. The Vikings remained within striking distance, but El Camino added two insurance runs in the seventh inning with RBI singles.
Hailey Harris (11-2) pitched a complete game for Long Beach, allowing seven hits and three earned runs while striking out two. However, the Vikings' offense was unable to capitalize, leading to their second conference loss of the season.
"A 12-game winning streak is fun, now it's time to start a new one," said Director of Softball Operations and Head Coach Megan Martinez. "It's exciting to compete in our competitive conference. Our team is hungry and excited for the next round.
Long Beach will look to bounce back in their next game as they continue conference play at East Los Angeles College on Tuesday, March 25 at 3 p.m.
