No. 5 LBCC Softball Blanks Fullerton 5-0 Behind Harris’ Dominant Performance
The Vikings take down Fullerton College 5-0.
The No. 5-ranked Long Beach City College softball team continued their winning ways with a 5-0 shutout victory over Fullerton College on Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore pitcher Hailey Harris was lights out in the circle, tossing a complete game gem to earn her 18th win of the season (18-3). Harris scattered six hits over seven shutout innings, allowing just one walk while striking out 10 Hornet batters in a dominant performance.
The Vikings wasted no time getting on the board in the top of the second inning. Center fielder Alesa Gonzalez drove in the first run of the game with an RBI single, bringing home catcher Madison Ramon.
In the third, Long Beach tacked on two more runs. Ramon came through again with a clutch two-run double, scoring designated player Michelle Pacheco and Harris to extend the lead to 3-0.
LBCC added two insurance runs in the sixth. First baseman Anaya Togia delivered an RBI single, scoring Gonzalez and advancing left fielder Sienna Rievley to third. Moments later, Harris helped her own cause with an RBI single of her own, plating Rievley and giving the Vikings a 5-0 cushion.
The Vikings will return to action on Tuesday, April 15, when they host Pasadena City College at 3 p.m. at the Long Beach City College softball complex.
