Vikings Blank Bakersfield in SoCal Regional Opener
The No. 4 softball team shut out t No. 13 Bakersfield College 2-0 on Friday afternoon in Game 1.

The No. 4 Long Beach City College softball team opened the 2025 SoCal Regional Playoffs with a statement win, shutting out No. 13 Bakersfield College 2-0 on Friday afternoon in Game 1 of the best-of-three series.
A clutch fifth-inning single from Michelle Cervantes drove in both Sienna Rievley and Alesa Gonzalez for the only runs of the game. That was all-star pitcher Hailey Harris needed, as she tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing just three hits while striking out nine to earn her 24th win of the season.
"I am excited to get the job done again tomorrow," said Head Coach and Director of Softball Operations Megan Martinez. "Happy to get into a playoff run! We will bring home a regional championship."
The Vikings return to action on Saturday, May 2 at 12 p.m. for Game 2. If necessary, Game 3 will follow shortly after.
