Former Viking softball standout Ami Vasquez (Hartnett) returns as an assistant coach for the Vikings in 2018.

In 2017, Vasquez helped lead the Vikings to a second-consecutive playoff apperance after going 8-4 in conference and 23-19 overall. The Vikings fell to Santigo Canyon in the Regional Quarterfinals, but ended the season on a high-note after five players earned SCC-South Confernce honors.

Vasquez earned All-American honors and was named the South Coast Conference Player of the Year for the Vikings in 2000. As a freshman in 1999, she was an All-State and All-South Coast Conference selection.
