LBCC Track & Field Notches Solid Marks at Cerritos Invite

The Long Beach City College men's & women's track & field teams competed in the Cerritos Opener this past weekend for the first official meet of the season. Both sides put together some impressive performances with a handful of athletes placing in the top-10 for numerous events.

For the men, freshman Keshawn Wright paced the Vikings with a second-place showing in the 200M earning a time of 23.79 and a fourth-place finish in the 100M with a mark of 11.58. Freshman Mark Jones was right behind him in the 200M with a time of 23.81 to earn him fourth place.

Sophomore Byron Manuel earned a spot on the podium in the 100M Hurdles by crossing the finish line with a time of 14.34. Freshman Anthony Johnson followed shortly behind with a fourth place finish after crossing the finish line at a mark of 15.41.

Sophomore Gerardo Salazar showed off his stamina in the 3000M by placing in the top-5 at fifth with a mark of 9:07. 88.

For the women, the short distance events were the most successful. Sophomore Seayanna Crawford placed fourth in the 400M Hurdles with a time of 1:29.59, while freshman Veronica Mendez earned the fifth spot in the 200M with a time of 27.55.

Freshman Aaliyah Abdulrahmaan sped to a sixth-place finish in the 100M with a mark of 12.94. She also placed eighth in the 200M with a time of 28.27.

The Vikings will compete at the CSLA Invite starting on Friday, March 3 and finishing on Saturday, March 4th.
