Track & Field Brings Home All-State Honors at CCCAA State Championships

The men's and women's Track & Field team traveled to the College of San Mateo to compete in the 2019 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championship this past weekend.

Sophomore James Martin placed 10th with a jump of 13.07 meters in the triple jump, just missing the finals by one centimeter. Freshman Destiny Diaz finished 12th with a time of 12:38.71 in the women's 3000 meter steeplechase. Then sophomore Lyling Irwin finished 10th in the women's pole vault with a mark of 2.85 meters and freshman Aazalet Danage placed ninth with a time of 59.31 in the 400 meter dash.

Freshman Callissa Candalot's outstanding javelin throw of 37.52 meters earned her fourth place in the State Meet. Candalot's six throws consisted of 32.53 meters, 37.52 meters, 30.21 meters, 30.70 meters, 34.25 meters, and a foul. With the fourth place finish, Candalot wrapped up her season with All-State honors.

The women's 4 x 100 relay (Destinee Augustus, Aazalet Danage, Vanessa Marchorro, and Cicely Arana) finished third in the state with a time of 48.23 seconds and earned All-State honors with their fantastic finish.

The Track & Field team will return next Spring.
