Track & Field Display Top Finishes at Pasadena Invite

Over the weekend, the Long Beach City College track & field team competed in the Pasadena Invitational at Pasadena City College.

Sophomore sprinter and jumper Aazalet Danage took first in 200 meter dash with a 24.97 time and first in the 400 meter with a time of 57.78, three seconds ahead of everyone else in the conference. She also competed in the long jump and placed second with 5.36-meter mark.

Freshman pole-vaulter Sheyla Villagrana took home a first place finish with 1.92 meters. Freshman hurdler Jocelyn Galloway also had a first place finish in the shot put with 9.78 meters and she took third in discus throw with 32.64 meters.

On the men's team, freshman sprinter Armando Padilla was first on the podium in the 400 meters dash with a time of 50.23. Freshman hurdler Kai Ruth had two third place finishes in the 110-meter hurdles and in the 400-meter hurdles.

Freshman jumper Ke'Ron Reed placed third in the long jump with a 6.14-meter jump and sophomore thrower Ronaldo Perez took the silver in the shot put with 12.27 meters mark.

Freshman thrower Ethan Edwards rounded out the top finishes with two bronzes in the shot put and discus throw.

The Vikings track & field team will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 28 at 12 p.m. in the Long Beach Invitational at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
