Casey Davis Becomes State Champion in the Shot Put

The Long Beach City College men and women's team competed in the California Community College Athletic Association State Championship over the weekend. The women's team took 8th place overall, while the men's team finished in the 26th in the standings.

Here are a few of the individual highlights during the state championships:

-Freshman Casey Davis took first place to become State Champion and All-American in the women's shot put with a personal best throw of 12.76m (41'11").

-Freshman Radiance Lindsey earned third place in the 400m hurdles (1:06.10) and fourth in the 100m hurdles (14.66 *personal best) to become a two-event individual All-American honoree.

-Women's 4x400m relay (Taj Grant, Destinee Reid, Radiance Lindsey, Natalie Mejia) place third with a time of 4:01.12 to earn team All-American honors.

-Freshman LaSalle Jackson placed third in the men's triple jump with a personal best leap of 14.97m (49'2") to round up the Vikings' eighth All-American Award of the day.

The track and field team will return next season.
