LBCC Track & Field Shines at SoCal Finals, Prepares for State Championships

The Long Beach City College track and field team delivered strong performances at the SoCal Finals held last Saturday at Saddleback College, with several standout athletes punching their ticket to the 3C2A State Championships.
Women's Highlights:
- Lauren Ferguson secured 3rd place in the Javelin, earning her spot at the State Championships.
- Saryah Harris-Davis also advanced with a 3rd place finish in the Shot Put.
- Nevaeh Lane qualified in two individual events, placing 3rd in the 200m and 4th in the 100m.
- The Women's 4x100m Relay team (Sa'Mir Braccey, Nevaeh Lane, Rylee Montez, Naomi Coffee) finished 5th, advancing to the state meet.
- The Women's 4x400m Relay team (Braccey, Lane, Danika Hunter, Montez) rounded out the day with a 6th place finish.
Men's Highlights:
- Marques Guzman was a double qualifier, taking 3rd in both the 100m and 200m sprints.
- Gavin Wang claimed 4th in the Javelin, also advancing to the State Championships.
- Jordan McGruder placed 8th in the Triple Jump, capping off a strong season.
- The Men's 4x400m Relay team (Guzman, Justin Auston, Malaki Alexander-Fonfara, Jahphet Welch) finished 7th overall.
Looking Ahead:
The Vikings are now preparing to compete at the 3C2A State Championships, set for May 16–17 at the College of San Mateo. With a deep roster of qualifiers in both individual and relay events, Long Beach City College is poised for a strong showing on the state's biggest stage.
