Women's Basketball: Vikings open IVC tourney with win over Grossmont
Freshman center Crystal Cockerhan came off the bench to score a game-high 18 points to help lead the Long Beach City College women's basketball team to an 80-52 win over Grossmont College in an opening-round game at the Irvine Valley College tournament.

Freshman center Crystal Cockerhan came off the bench to score a game-high 18 points to help lead the Long Beach City College women's basketball team to an 80-52 win over Grossmont College in an opening-round game at the Irvine Valley College tournament.
Long Beach held Grossmont (2-7) to just 10 of 32 shooting in the first half and led 50-27 at the break.
Cockeran added 8 rebounds and 5 blocks while freshman Talia Rayford posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman Regina Romain also chipped in with 12 points off the bench.
No. 19 state-ranked Long Beach (5-1) will face No. 13 Chaffey College on Friday at 5 p.m. in the tournament semifinals.
