Freshman Ayerjenee Jeanmard (Poly HS) nearly had a triple-double with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists while sophomore Lupe Cruz (South East HS) scored a team-high 17 points to help lead No. 6 state-ranked Long Beach City College to an 86-56 non-conference win over visiting West Los Angeles College on Tuesday in the Vikings' home opener at the Hall of Champions Gym.

LBCC  extended its winning streak to eight games and improved to 10-1 overall. The Vikings' lone loss of the season came on November 8 to state No. 1-ranked Mt. San Antonio College.

West LA held an early 4-0 lead before Long Beach rallied back to jump ahead 6-4. Kayla Clark sank a pair of free throws for the Wildcats to tie up the game at six before the Vikings pulled ahead for good. LBCC put together a 9-0 run and closed out the quarter outscoring West LA 16-4. Jeanmard's three-pointer with 17 seconds left in the first gave LBCC a commanding 22-10 advantage.

Long Beach led 39-26 at halftime before LBCC put the game out of reach with a 30-point third quarter. Freshman Paris Lucci (Palos Verdes Peninsula HS) scored seven of her 14 points in the third while freshman Miranda Martinez (El Dorado HS) added six of her eight points on the night.

LBCC outrebounded West LA by a 56-38 margin and scored 22 second-chance points. Cruz added eight boards while sophomore Christiana Layne (Lynwood HS) chipped in with seven rebounds and eight points.

The Vikings return to tournament action on December 27-29 when they will compete at Fullerton College's Coleen Riley Holiday Invitational.
