The Long Beach City College women's basketball team hit the road on Wednesday night to face off against the Cerritos College Falcons in conference action. The contest was wire-to-wire until the the Vikings outscored the Falcons 17-5 in the third quarter leading to a 55-35 victory.

The Vikings got off to a quick start in the first quarter with freshman guard Janay Wellington (S.D. Paradise Hills, CA) and sophomore guard Miranda Martinez (Placentia, CA) drained back-to-back jumpers. Sophomore guard Ayerjenee Jeanmard (Long Beach, CA) flipped defense into offense by pocketing a steal and taking it coast-to-coast for a bucket to put the Vikings up by eight points. However, the Falcons finished the first quarter on a 10-2 tear to knot the game up at 12-all.

A low-scoring second quarter put the Vikings up by four points at the completion. Martinez took the reins for the entire 10-minute span by flushing four jumpers. Wellington assisted on the first two, while Jeanmard facilitated the second two, thus handing the Vikings a 20-14 lead.

The low-scoring affair continued for the Falcons, but the Vikings turned up the heat to outscore Cerritos 17-5 in the third quarter. Long Beach began the quarter on a 13-0 run that stretched through seven minutes of the frame. Jeanmard located sophomore guard Vivian Hernandez (Downey, CA) for a trey ball to kick off the run. Freshman guard Tiana Augustus (Long Beach, CA) chipped in a jumper, followed by two buckets from Martinez. Jeanmard facilitated each bucket as well. Jeanmard then began to put the ball in the hoop herself by kissing two points off the glass and cashing in at the charity stripe for two more points. Freshman guard CeAirra Clement (Long Beach, CA) capped off the frame by making two layups leading to a 37-19 advantage.

The three ball began to fall for the Vikings in the fourth quarter to help expand their lead, as freshman guard Alexis Camarena (Ventura, CA) and freshman guard Clarissa Rodriguez (South Gate, CA) flushed three pointers. A plethora of Vikings contributed down the stretch leading to the 55-35 victory.

Jeanmard notched her first-career triple double by netting 10 points, hauling in 12 rebounds, and dishing out 10 assists. Martinez paced the floor with a game-high 21 points to go along with seven steals.
