Women’s Basketball Defeats LA Harbor in Conference Victory

The Long Beach City College women's basketball team took down the LA Harbor Seahawks 59-46 in their third South Coast Conference game on Wednesday evening in the Hall of Champions. With the win, the Vikings advance to 9-12 overall and 2-1 in conference action.

The Vikings tipped-off the first quarter with sophomore forward De'Brianna Hampton getting on the scoreboard first with the assist from sophomore guard Rosalinda Taosoga. The Vikings kept pushing forward and ended the first quarter up by eight points.

In the second quarter, freshman forward Naomi Winston-Ellis led the team with four points and eleven rebounds.  

The Vikings kept their offense moving in the second half and had their largest lead over LA Harbor in the third quarter by 17 points.

At the end of the game, Winston-Ellis earned her second career double-double with 16 points and 20 rebounds.  Hampton also recorded her third double-double on the season with 13 points on 12 rebounds.

The women's basketball team will return on Friday, Feb. 1 against El Camino College in their fourth South Coast Conference game in the Hall of Champions.
