Huskey, Lizarraga Named Co-MVPs of the South Coast Conferece

After the No. 14 Long Beach City College women's basketball team hauled in their South Coast Conference (SCC) Championship, it was recently announced that six women's basketball athletes were recognized with All-SCC honors.

First year Head Coach Ollie Brent earned his first SCC Coach of the Year award following the conference crown and finished the regular season 20-8 and a perfect conference 10-0 record.

Sophomore guard Isabel Lizarraga and freshman forward Donavion Huskey were announced the All-SCC Co-Most Valuable Players of the 2019-20 season. Freshman center Ivori Scott was named to the All-SCC First-Team list, while freshmen guards Samantha Ballantyne, Amiah Honores, and Bra'Nya Richson were named to the All-SCC Second-Team.

Lizarraga earned the Co-MVP title for averaging 17.1 points with 4.9 assists and 3.2 steals per game. Huskey was also named Co-MVP as she is the leader in the state with 19.4 rebounds per game.

Scott took home First-Team accolades, as she was a force in the paint with averaging 14.1 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per game.

Ballantyne came late into the season and only played eight total games, but within those games, she managed to average 5.1 points and 6.4 rebounds per game to earn her a spot on the Second-Team list.

Also on the Second-Team list were Honores as she averaged 3.7 points per game and Richson with 5.1 per game.
