Cater posts huge game in No. 13 Vikings’ loss at No. 3 Orange Coast

COSTA MESA – Aaliyah Carter had a game to remember.

The sophomore posted career highs with 28 points and 26 rebounds against one of the top teams in the state, leading No. 13-ranked Long Beach City College in a 71-62 loss at No. 3 Orange Coast College on Tuesday.

Carter did all she could to keep the Vikings in the game. With 6:30 remaining in the fourth quarter, her layup got Long Beach within one point at 57-56. But the Vikings would get no closer.

Orange Coast responded with an 11-0 run o put the contest out of reach for the Vikings.

Carter got help from Jaden Sanderson as she added 16 points. Amanda Lopez posted 11 points and 7 assists.

The loss dropped Long Beach to 8-6 while Orange Coast improved to 11-0 on the season. The Vikings will take an extended break for the holidays and return to action on Jan. 4 when they travel to Fullerton College for a 5 p.m. non-conference game.
