No. 15 Vikings surge to eighth straight win, remain perfect in SCC after rout at Cerritos

NORWALK – Amanda Lopez scored a game-high 22 points to help lead No. 15 state-ranked Long Beach City College to its eighth consecutive victory, an 82-48 triumph at Cerritos College on Friday.

The Vikings remain perfect in South Coast Conference South Division play at 4-0 and won all three of its SCC crossover games earlier in the month.

On Friday, the Vikings jumped out to a 13-5 lead over the Falcons and never looked back. LBCC held a 31-19 advantage after the first quarter and was up 44-35 at halftime.

Lopez added 9 assists, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals to her big night against Cerritos. Jaden Sanderson posted 17 points and 8 rebounds while Ariana Grimes contributed 14 points and 9 rebounds.

Long Beach, now 16-6 overall, returns to action on Wednesday (Feb. 1) when it hosts LA Harbor College in a 5 p.m. SCC South Division game.
