Vikings Power Past Opponent LA Harbor
The women’s basketball team showcased an impressive offensive effort, securing a 101-30 win against LA Harbor.
The Long Beach City College women's basketball team showcased an impressive offensive effort, securing a dominant 101-30 win against LA Harbor in South Coast Conference play. With the win, the Vikings advance to 17-6 overall and are undefeated with a 4-0 record in the conference action.
Freshman wing Yesenia Garcia led the charge with a stellar 24-point performance, shooting an efficient 10-for-16 from the field while adding five rebounds and six assists. Sophomore forward Brillana Boyd was also a force, tallying 22 points, eight rebounds, and five assists while contributing on the defensive end with three steals.
Freshman center Taylah Paepule made a strong impact on both ends of the floor, recording 19 points, nine rebounds, and six steals to anchor the Vikings' defense. Sophomore point guard Kimberly Cruz-Martinez provided a steady presence, chipping in 10 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Off the bench, Cristin Duncan and Mackayla Flores combined for 19 points to give the Vikings a key boost.
"The girls came out with great energy and never took their foot off the gas," said Head Coach Dominic Freeman. "Proud of their effort in the first round of conference play and now we aim to keep it rolling into the second round of conference and into the playoffs."
The Vikings will be back in action on the court on Friday, February 7 at El Camino College for their next South Coast Conference matchup.
