LBCC Women's Basketball Claim Fifth Straight Conference Title
The Vikings women’s basketball team secured its fifth consecutive conference championship.

The Long Beach City College women's basketball team continues its dominance, securing its fifth consecutive conference championship. The state-ranked No. 16 Vikings extended their conference win streak to an impressive 35 games en route to the title.
Boyd Repeats as Player of the Year Sophomore guard Brillana Boyd was named the conference Player of the Year for the second straight season. Boyd showcased her all-around game, averaging 22.0 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 2.3 steals per contest.
Freeman Named Coach of the Year Head Coach Dominic Freeman was honored as the Coach of the Year, leading the Vikings to a stellar 8-0 conference record and yet another championship campaign.
First Team All-Conference:
- Kimberly Cruz-Martinez, So., PG – Two-time first-team selection, averaged 8.9 points while leading the SCC with 7.4 assists per game, also contributing 5.9 rebounds and 3.1 steals per contest.
- Taylah Paepule, Fr., C – Posted 8.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game in her debut season.
- Yesenia Garcia, Fr., Wing – Averaged 6.3 points and 2.6 assists per game.
Second Team All-Conference:
- Kyla Sawall, Fr., Wing – 5.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.3 steals per game.
- Cristin Duncan, So., Wing – 4.9 points per game.
- Jasmine Hecht, Fr., Wing – 4.7 points per game.
Playoff Bound: Vikings Earn No. 18 Seed With a 21-7 overall record, the Vikings secured the No. 18 seed in the 3C2A playoffs and will travel to face No. 15 West Los Angeles College in the first round on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. A victory would set up a showdown with Mt. San Antonio College, a team Long Beach upset in last year's Regional Finals to advance to the 3C2A State Championship quarterfinals.
