Sophomore Paola Alonso (pictured) scored two goals to help lead the Long Beach City College women's soccer team to an impressive 4-0 win in its 2012 season opener at West Hills College in Lemoore on Thursday.
The LBCC offense was in midseason form as it rattled off 30 shots, including 14 on goal.
Alonso opened the scoring with her first goal in the 35th minute before the Vikings finally broke the game open in the second half. Sophomore Brooke Denton and freshman Rocio Hernandez added goals before Alonso capped the win with her second goal in the 70th minute.
Denton, sophomore Yahaira Hernandez, and freshmen Jennifer Abarca, and Hanna Hermansson all tallied assists.
Sophomore Jeanette DeAnda had a relatively easy day in goal for Long Beach and posted three saves.
The Vikings (1-0) continue their two-game road trip with a 3 pm non-conference game at Las Positas College in Livermore on Friday.
