Women's Soccer: Long Beach drops 2-1 SCC match to El Camino

The Long Beach City College women's soccer team had its three-match unbeaten streak snapped after falling to visiting El Camino College by a final score of 2-1 on Tuesday at LBCC.

The South Coast Conference loss dropped the Vikings to 6-4-3 overall and 2-2-3 in conference play.

Long Beach outshot El Camino by 9-8 margin but it was the Warriors first shot that decided the outcome of the game.

Just five minutes into the contest, El Camino's Cecy Perez dribbled through the LBCC defense and slipped her shot past LBCC goalkeeper Jeanette DeAnda for the early goal.

The Vikings couldn't really get anything going offensively against the Warriors. Long Beach's best chance to score came in the 56th minute when Brooke Denton's (pictured) header off a corner kick hit the crossbar.

DeAnda posted three saves for the Vikings while Alyssa Heely also had three saves in goal for El Camino (5-7-1, 4-3-0 SCC).

The Long Beach women return to action on Friday (Oct. 19) when they host East Los Angeles College in a 4 p.m. conference game.
