Women’s Soccer: Vikings’ season ends with overtime playoff loss at East LA

The Long Beach City College women's soccer team's 2012 season came to a disappointing end with a 1-0 overtime loss at East Los Angeles College on Thursday in a Southern California Regional Playoffs play-in round game.

Once again the Vikings' defense did all it could to keep its squad in the game, but unfortunately the offense couldn't deliver.

After a scoreless 90 minutes of regulation, the two squads played a pair of 15-minute overtime periods. It didn't take long for No. 15 seed East Los Angeles to finally breakup the scoreless match when Leslie Rivera broke free in the 95th minute to score the game-winner.

Sophomore Jeanette DeAnda posted 10 saves in goal for the 18th seeded Vikings.

It was the third meeting of the season between the conference foes and first win for East Los Angeles (10-7-5) after they played to a 0-0 tie and LBCC edged the Huskies 1-0.

Long Beach closes the season with an 11-6-4 overall record and was third in the South Coast Conference at 7-3-4.
