Women’s Soccer: Vikings dominate Compton, cruise to 7-0 win

Sophomore Yasmyn Andrade (Delray, FL) scored a pair of goals while the Long Beach City College women's soccer team outshot El Camino College Compton Center 29-0 in a 7-0 South Coast Conference win on Friday at LBCC.

With the victory, Long Beach improved to 8-6-3 overall and 7-4-0 in conference play with just three games left to play.

Compton (1-17-1, 1-11-0 SCC) played the entire game with 10 players and did its best to slow down the Vikings on offense.

Six different Vikings knocked in goals in the rout. Sophomore Hannah Martinez (Lakewood HS) got the scoring party going when she nailed a penalty kick goal in the seventh minute. FreshmanJanessa Martinez (Narbonne HS) and Andrade scored consecutive goals over a two-minute span in the 25th minute and sophomore Brenda Reyes (Hawthorne HS) closed out the first-half scoring with her goal in the 30th minute.

Andrade opened the scoring in the second half with a nice header goal off the corner kick from freshman Joanna Perone (San Pedro HS). Sophomore Hayley Gonzales (Calvary Chapel HS) scored in the 60th minute and sophomore Priscilla Cortes (Santa Fe HS) closed it out with her goal in the 85th minute.

Freshman Briana Viramontes (Kennedy HS) and Cortes also were credited with assists.

Freshmen Evelyn Fierros (Bishop Amat HS) and Isabella Reynoso (Lakewood HS) combined for their sixth shutout of the season.

The Long Beach women return to action on Monday (Nov. 10) when it hosts El Camino College in a SCC game at 3 p.m.
