The Long Beach City College women's soccer team went 1-1 at the season-opening Nike Soccer Community College Classic in Ventura following its 4-0 loss to College of the Canyons on Saturday morning.

Coming off a 3-2 win over Orange Coast College on Thursday, the Vikings couldn't get anything going offensively against the Cougars. Canyons led 2-0 at halftime before closing out the game with two goals in the second.

Sophomores Evelyn Fierros (Bishop Amat HS, pictured) and Isabella Reynoso (Lakewood HS) both had two saves each over 45 minutes in goal.

Long Beach continues non-conference action on Tuesday (Sept. 1) when it travels to San Diego City College for a 2 p.m. game. The Vikings play their home opener next Tuesday (Sept. 8) when they host Taft College at 2 p.m.
