Long Beach City College earned its second straight draw, playing Pasadena City College to a 3-3 tie on Friday at PCC. Long Beach held a 3-1 lead midway through the second half but couldn't come away with the win.

With the South Coast Conference draw, Long Beach moved to 6-3-3 overall and 3-1-2 in the SCC. The Vikings currently sit in second place in the conference standings with 11 points and trail unbeaten leader Cerritos (6-0-0, 18 pts) by seven points.

On Friday, the Vikings led for the majority of the contest. Long Beach got on the scoreboard first when sophomore Katie Yamaguchi (Lakewood HS) took the pass from freshman Stephanie Barrera (Bellflower HS) and beat PCC goalie Natalie Martin with her shot from 15 yards out to give LBCC a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute.

LBCC took a 2-0 lead into halftime after sophomore Niki Voulgaris (Wilson HS/Southern Utah Univ.) buried her free-kick shot from 35 yards away in the 39th minute.

Pasadena finally scored in the 54th, getting a header goal by Nathalie Feil before Long Beach extended its lead thanks to a breakaway goal by Barrera in the 61st minute. But from that point, Pasadena rallied late to tie up the game. The Lancers got header goals by Rachel Schroeder (75th) and Talar Boshgezenyan (78th) to deny the Vikings the win.

In goal, sophomore Evelyn Fierros (Bishop Amat HS) stopped the lone shot on goal she faced in the first half for a save. Sophomore Isabella Reynoso (Lakewood HS) had two saves, but allowed the three second-half Pasadena goals.

Long Beach returns to action on Tuesday (Oct. 20) when the Vikings host East Los Angeles College in a 4 p.m. SCC game.
