A tough stretch for the Long Beach City College women's soccer team continued as the Vikings suffered a 5-2 South Coast Conference loss at El Camino College on Friday. Long Beach is 1-2-3 over its last six games and currently holds a one-point advantage in third place in the conference standings with 15 points and a 4-3-3 record.

Despite being outshot by a 27-11 margin, Long Beach was able to tie up the game late when freshman Savannah Christensen (Lakewood HS) scored in the 81st minute to even the contest at 2-2.

But El Camino (5-8-4, 4-4-2 SCC) erupted for three straight goals to close out its win. Miranda Ramirez put the Warriors up for good with her goal in the 83rd minute, while a Long Beach own-goal in the 84th, and an ECC score by Kalyn Kaemerie in the 88th put the game out of reach.

Trailing 1-0 late in the first half, freshman Miranda Kaekul's goal in the 40th minute tied the game up at 1-1 as the teams went in for halftime. But Miranda Ramirez' score in the 57th minute put the Warriors back out in front.

Sophomore Evelyn Fierros (Bishop Amat HS) allowed one goal and posted six saves over the first half before she was lifted for sophomore Isabella Reynoso (Lakewood HS) in the second.

Long Beach, now 7-5-4 overall, returns to action on Tuesday (Nov. 3) when the Vikings travel to Los Angeles Harbor College for a 2 p.m. SCC game.
