The Long Beach City College women's soccer team posted its sixth shutout of the season with a 2-0 South Coast Conference win at Los Angeles Harbor College on Tuesday. LBCC was coming off a tough 5-2 loss at El Camino College on Friday, but the Vikings were able to bounce back to improve to 8-5-4 overall and 5-3-3 in conference play.

Long Beach dominated the Seahawks offensively on Tuesday and outshot Harbor by a 16-8 margin. Sophomore Katie Yamaguchi (Lakewood HS) gave the Vikings a 1-0 lead with her goal in the 20th minute. That score held up all the way until nearly the end of the contest as sophomore Janessa Martinez (Narbonne HS) closed out the game with her goal in the 90th minute.

Sophomore goalkeeper Evelyn Fierros (Bishop Amat HS) totaled five saves in the complete-game effort for the Vikings.

With 18 team points, Long Beach currently sits in third place in the SCC standings with just three games left to play. The Vikings look to keep pace with second-place East Los Angeles College (7-1-3) with 24 points.

Long Beach returns to action on Friday (Oct. 6) when the Vikings travel to Mt. San Antonio College for a 4 p.m. conference game.
