The Long Beach City College women's soccer team took to the pitch for its second-consecutive conference matchup on Friday afternoon by facing off against El Camino College. After grabbing the lead in the 70th minute and what seemed to be a path to snapping El Camino's undefeated mark, the Vikings surrendered a score in the 89th minute that lead to a 2-2 draw.

Long Beach's got off to an unfortunate start as El Camino was able to score 20 seconds into the contest, thus forcing the Viking's offensive hand early. 

Nevertheless, Long Beach responded effectively in the third minute as freshman forward Julianna Carrillo (Long Beach, CA) drove a ball down the pitch and promptly poked it past the El Camino goalkeeper to knot up the game at 1-1. 

From that moment on, the Vikings took control of the remaining minutes of the half by firing off a total of 13 shots. Sophomore forward Savannah Christensen (Lakewood, CA) and freshman forward Kalie Bembry (Cypress, CA) proved to be the most aggressive in the attack by firing off three shots each. 

The Vikings came out of the gate with the same mentality in the second half - remain aggressive and put pressure on the El Camino defense. After Long Beach fired off seven more shots, Carrillo earned a free kick off a foul. After surveying the field, Carrillo decided to take matters into her own hands by sending home a lofting, top-shelf beauty to the back of the net to hand the Vikings a one-score lead. Unfortunately for the Vikings, El Camino was able to clutch up and score in the 89th minute leading to a 2-2 draw. 

Carrillo had a great game by netting the two goals. The Vikings carted a heavy foot by firing off 23 shots with seven different players hammering off a shot. 

Freshman goalkeeper Ronnie Gonzalez (Lakewood, CA) finished with five saves in 90 minutes of action between the posts. 

The Vikings (6-2-2) will continue conference action on Tuesday, October 4 on the road at 4 p.m. against Cerritos College.
