LBCC Women's Soccer Boasts Six Vikings on All-Conference List

It was recently announced by the South Coast Conference (SCC) that six Long Beach City College women's soccer athletes were named to the All-SCC south division. Sophomore forward Savannah Christensen, sophomore midfielder Miranda Kaekul, and sophomore defender Katin Trowbridge hauled in first-team laurels, while sophomore midfielder Stephanie Barrera, sophomore defender Terica Johnson, and sophomore defender Erica Rojas earned second-team accolades.

Christensen caps off her Viking career with first-team recognition after experiencing a well-rounded season that saw eight goals and eight assists in 21 games played. Her eight assists paced the squad, while her eight goals ranked second on the team. By utilizing her blazing speed and finessed touch on the ball, Christensen was able to work towards a successful season. Her best game came in an 8-0 tromping over ECC Compton where she scored two goals – one going as the game winner.

Kaekul was a highly dynamic player on the pitch who was simply irreplaceable. Her versatility was on display numerous times by making starts on defense and offense, while chipping in in the midfield. In 19 games played, Kaekul started 18 of them and scored two goals while dishing out one assist.

Trowbridge was the lifeblood of the defensive brigade by manning the backline with efficiency and purpose. She carted a heavy boot by taking all goal kicks and numerous free kicks which led to some goal from long range. She finished the season with four goals and one assist and started in all 20 games she played.

Barrera was a reliable offensive threat any time she controlled the ball in the attacking third leading to six goals and three assists in 18 games played. She made the largest impact in an 8-0 win over ECC Compton by netting two scores and dishing out two assists.

Johnson was a part of a solid defensive unit that performed at high levels on numerous occasion. She was a main contributor to the defensive successes by starting in all 20 games she played in and brought her "A" game throughout all 90 minutes of action. She also contributed on the offensive end by dishing out one assist.

Rojas earns recognition by playing lockdown defense at the center back position while also utilizing her skills at attacking forward. While making numerous defensive contributions, Rojas shined on the offensive end as well by scoring three goals and recording one assists. Her three goals and one assist came in the same contest in a 6-0 win against LA Harbor.
