Veloz Scores Solo Goal Against the No. 16 Hornets

The Long Beach City College women's soccer team fell to the No. 16 Fullerton College Hornets on Tuesday afternoon 2-1 at the Veterans Memorial Stadium. With the loss, the Vikings drop to 4-2 overall.

Freshman goalkeeper Almareli Quintero was a force in the cage as she had seven saves against the Hornets.

The Vikings kicked-off the game with a goal from freshman forward Allison Rose Veloz with the cross pass from freshman forward Nathaly Silva to lead the Vikings 1-0. The Vikings fought hard against Fullerton as both teams competed fearlessly in the heat to edgge each other out.

Then the Hornets responded with a goal in the 24th minute to tie the game 1-1. Freshman defender Emily Barham and the backline worked tirelessly to keep the Hornets out of the box, but Fullerton scored a a goal from a penalty kick in the second half to finish the game with the 2-1 win over Long Beach.

The Long Beach City College women's soccer team will return to action on Friday, Sept 27 at Norco College at 3 p.m.
