Vikings Top Compton College 5-1

The No. 17 Long Beach City College Vikings took down the Compton College Tartars 5-1 in their third-straight win to improve their overall record 8-3.

Freshman goalkeeper Almareli Quintero almost held the shutout against the Tartars, but Compton managed to squeeze one in in the 69th minute of the game.

The Vikings were off to a great start as sophomore midfielder Yesenia Hernandez popped in the first goal for the Vikings with the cross pass from sophomore forward Allison Rose Veloz.

Then sophomore forward Brittany Caudillo scored the next two goals to close out the half with the 3-0 lead.

Freshman forward Nathaly Silva scored the Vikings' two final goals in the second half to seal the 5-1 win against the Tartars.

The Long Beach City College women's soccer team will return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at Veterans Memorial Stadium against Rio Hondo College at 2 p.m.
