Long Beach, CA -- On a scenic afternoon in Long Beach, the Long Beach Lady Vikings (4-2-2) took to the pitch against the Cubs from Los Angeles City College (2-6-1). Looking to build some momentum after their 6-0 victory over LA Valley, Long Beach did just that, winning, in convincing fashion, 16-2.
Haley Obenshain got things off to a good start with a goal within the first 30 seconds of the match. Rose Veloz then contributed three goals of her own to put Long Beach up comfortably 4-0 at the 18-minute mark. At halftime, the game was all but in hand, with the score 7-0 in favor of the Lady Vikings. The final score of 16-2 was indicative of the talent disparity.
The Vikings collected goals from nine different scorers. Rose Veloz led the way with four scores, followed by three from Haley Obenshain. Monserrath Galindo and Andrea Martinez each contributed two goals. Lastly, each of the following players had one goal apiece: Jennifer Skrumbis, Yessica Moreno, Autumn Jones, Jessica Lora, and Alicia Yepezz.
