No. 4 Women's Soccer Takes Down No. 5 Cerritos in SCC Championship Match Up

The No. 4 women's soccer team defeated the No. 5 Cerritos College Falcons 2-0 on Friday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Stadium. With their third-consecutive shutout win, the Vikings advance to 10-5-2 overall and are 7-3 in conference action.

Freshman goalkeeper Jocelynn Sotelo has not let anything by her in three games. Today she was still unstoppable with two saves for the Vikings to hold on to her shutout streak.

The Vikings were scoreless with the Falcons in the first half, but then came out ready to win after the break. Freshman forward Alieza Vargas Deason was the first on the board with a sly left pass from sophomore forward Jennifer Skrumbis to blast the ball in the back of the Falcon's net to take the lead.

Then freshman midfielder Haley Obenshain took her opportunity to score with the assist from freshman forward Andrea Martinez to seal the 2-0 win for the Vikings.

The No. 4 Vikings will be back in action in the South Coast Conference Tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 9 at No. 1 Rio Hondo College.
