The No. 15 Long Beach City College women's soccer team took down No. 18 San Diego City College Knights with a 4-0 sweep on Thursday evening. With the win, the Vikings advance to Round 1 of the playoff tournament.
The Vikings took charge as soon as the whistle blew. Sophomore forward Allison Rose Veloz was all over the ball as she tallied six shots with two flying in the back of the Knight's net in the first half. Her partner in goals was sophomore forward Jennifer Skrumbis, who assisted her on the first goal, and then smashed two of her own in the second half to complete the game with the 4-0 shutout.
Freshman goalkeeper Jocelyn Sotelo was on fire as she blocked three shots from the Knights to keep the Vikings winning-streak alive.
With the win, the Vikings advance to the next round of the SoCal Regional Playoffs and will travel to No. 2 Saddleback College on Saturday, Nov. 20 for a 7 p.m. game.
