Veloz Earns Offensive Player of Year, Vikings Place Six Athletes to All-SCC List

2021 Women's Soccer All-SCC

It was announced by the South Coast Conference that six Long Beach City College women's soccer athletes earned All-SCC honors following a third place showing in the SCC and a 7-4 record.

Sophomore forward Allison Rose Veloz earned the top award as the Offensive Player of the Year as she led the conference with 20 goals and had 9 assists. She has been a consistent threat to her opponents and a huge offensive asset for the Vikings this season.

The Vikings' offense was a clear force this year. Freshman forward Alieza Vargas Deason received First-Team honors as she tallied eight goals and had eight assists during conference play. Freshman midfielder Monserrath Galindo rounded out the First-Team accolades, as she was a constant and dependable force behind the ball. She also collected four goals and had five assists to her name.

Sophomore forward Jennifer Skrumbis was named to the Second-Team honors list for her offensive efforts. She was always a dependable teammate and was the catalyst behind seven Vikings' goals. Freshman forward Andrea Martinez and freshman midfielder Haley Obenshain rounded out the Second-Team honors and they had a combined effort of 14 goals for the Vikings.

The Vikings will return to action in the next round of the SoCal Regional Playoffs and will travel to No. 2 Saddleback College on Saturday, Nov. 20 for a 7 p.m. game.
