Soccer's Menjivar Trains with El Salvador National Team

This past month, Long Beach City College's women's soccer athlete Alyssa Menjivar flew out to El Salvador to participate in a week-long training camp in preparation for the U-20  Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) Women's Championship tournament. The tournament will be held in March 2022 in the Dominican Republic and will determine the teams who will go on to compete in the World Cup Qualifiers later this year in Costa Rica.

This would be Menjivar's third time playing with the El Salvador Women's National team as she participated in the U-15 and U-17 CONCACAF Championship tournaments in years past. For the U-20 Women's Championship tournament, El Salvador has been placed in a bracket with Canada, Trinidad and Tobago, Saint Kitts and Nevis.

Menjivar was the starting left defender for our women's soccer team and won the scholar athlete award in 2021. Her future is bright as she considers her next steps in intercollegiate and/or international soccer, as well as her pursuit of a nursing degree.
